• By Pilot The Namiki Bamboo Collection is a new line of writing instruments designed for today's professional
• Namiki's Bamboo series consists of Rhodium and Black Resin styles that are modeled after a plant whose rapid growth, strength, and lush color inspire vitality, humility and happiness
• Pen barrels are burrowed with uneven knots like those characteristically found on bamboo stalks
• Available as fountain pens with technically perfect fine, medium and broad point 14-karat gold nibs matted with shiny rhodium overlay
• A matching gel ink rolling ball pen in each style is also available
• Each is merchandised in an elegant Namiki presentation box
• Where does the name Namiki come from? Namiki was the original name of Pilot Pen and its founder Ryosuke Namiki
• Where is Namiki made? In Pilot's Hiratsuka factory in Central Japan
• What is Namiki's product guarantee? Lifetime, for the original owner on hand painted Maki-e
• Three years for all other products
• What refills are recommended? Namiki fountain pens take a standard Pilot ink cartridge or can be filled via converter with Namiki bottled ink
• Ball Point pens and Rolling Balls also take Pilot refills, while Pencils accept Pilot 0.5mm lead and eraser refills.(see Namiki Refills and Accessories)
• Why gold nibs? Gold is used in nib manufacturing because, although expensive and easily abraded, it resists corrosion caused by ink, which is so acidic that is will literally begin to dissolve steel
• For pen nibs, it is generally thought that an alloy of 14 karat fineness gives the best compromise between hardness, workability and corrosion resistance
• Gold is also the key ingredient in making a nib more flexible
• How do Namiki nibs compare to those manufactured in Europe and the United States? Namiki nibs are one half increment finer than those made in Europe and the United States
